About this project
Inspired by two days of sailing experience, the body is washed ashore by the sensations carried by the sea, returning to the prehistoric Yuanshan, once a large lake where saltwater and freshwater met. The dramatic changes in the environment forged the species’ resilient will to survive. The dance steps lead everyone to break through time and space, diving into what was once water, using crawling, wave-rocking, whispering, nitrogen intoxication, and collision to tell the story of the dependent and contradictory relationship between humans and the environment.
Then, we crawl;
Then, we become nitrogen intoxicated;
Then, we rock the waves;
Then, we whisper.

Founded in 2016, the dance company’s name comes from the initials of its two artistic directors’ English names: T (Xiao-Ting), W (Xiao-Wei), TW (Taiwan), and TWIN (twins). They often introduce themselves as twin sisters Ting and Wei from Taiwan.
InTW actively engages in diverse and cross-disciplinary creations, starting from contemporary dance to explore places in society where art is needed. They collaborate with groups in different fields, using alternative perspectives and gentle approaches to highlight human care and environmental reflection issues. As well as indoor theater performances, their works often center around space, connecting the city, landscapes, and nature. Their creations have expanded to digital imagery and virtual space exploration in recent years, as well as curating efforts aimed at bringing performing arts into children’s art museums.
