About this project

“Echoing Body” is not a performance, but a collapse of perception.

In an seemingly peaceful underground space, I invite the audience into a bodily black hole — where they can’t see, are unable to grasp the rhythm, and lose the sense of secure control.

Yet it is precisely in that state of “unfinished death” that a certain residual sensitivity begins to awaken. They will get lost, and may not find an exit.

But they will remember their own breath and heartbeat, echoing in the space, whether they choose to awaken or continue to sleep.

Chen Wei-Yi is an independent choreographer, dancer, and somatic practitioner, a graduate of the Graduate Institute of Dance of Taipei National University of the Arts.

Her creative work focuses on the body as a container of emotions, memories, and spirituality. Through movement, space, and the flow of energy, she explores how individuals reconstruct perception and existence amid repression and dissolution.

In 2022, her work “One Day:” was featured in the Want To Dance Festival, and she was selected as the first Taiwanese artist invited to a residency at TROIS C-L Choreographic Center in Luxembourg. During this residency, she created a solo dance piece titled “only” using the body as a dialectical space of viewing and being viewed, exploring bodily autonomy and states of existence. She continues to seek further development opportunities.

She was also selected to participate in the MASDANZA International Dance Platform in Spain, was invited to perform with the Hong Kong E-side Dance Company in 2023, and has received funding from the Cloud Gate Art Makers Project. Her creative work spans dance and mind-body-spirit practices, as she continuously engages in dance creation, body healing, and international exchange.

She is adept at guiding audiences into spaces of sensory deconstruction and psychological traversal, breaking through established viewing structures to allow the body to speak between boundaries.
