About this project

Use rituals to encourage audience to focus on five core elements, as a medium for transformation from human to divine. Highlight the many paradoxes in our human existence and divine universe. Performance will go through Water, Earth, Fire, Wind and Space, with each element featuring a ritual interacting with the audience and a drag performance. After the final drag performance (Wind) the audience will be invited onto the stage to join a dance party and create “Space,” combining the four elements.

Betty Apple (b. 1986, Taiwan) is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in performance art, sound art, electronic music, DJing, and new media. Influenced by live sound performance, queer theory, posthumanism, and Taiwanese underground culture, her work explores body politics, societal norms, and human-object dynamics. By incorporating industrially-produced symbols of erotica (such as vibrators, lingerie, and silicone breasts) into her performances, she crafts chaotic “magical realist narratives.”

Her major recent exhibitions include Mermaid Awaking Club (Copenhagen, 2023), the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts (Australia, 2025), Wonderfruit Festival (Thailand, 2024), Luxembourg Art Week (2023), and the Jogja Biennale (Indonesia, 2019). Additionally, she has contributed sound design for JENN LEE’s fashion shows (2023, 2024) and theatrical works such as New Paradise of Silent Island.
