About this project

Along the banks of the Danshui River, the settlement of the Yuanshan Culture once served as a center of fishing and hunting. The shell mound that remains there, filled with shells and bone tools, embodies a shared space where prehistoric life, belief, and memory converge.

In this work, the forms of ancient bones and pottery are transformed into a friendly animal-like figure with openwork patterns. On the grassy expanses of Yuanshan, where city and ruins meet, an installation symbolizing the spirit of the age comes to life. Embedded within the piece are paper-sculpted elements co-created by the public. Designed with families in mind, the work invites playful interaction, creating connections across millennia and allowing history and culture to speak through art.

A paper-cutting artist from Taipei, she graduated from the Department of Agricultural Extension at National Taiwan University. Working primarily with craft knives and paper, she has developed a distinctive visual language in paper sculpture, using light and shadow, layering, cutouts, and linework to create delicate three-dimensional effects.

Her subjects often draw from Taiwanese street scenes, local stories, and community co-creation, transforming them into warm, immersive paper-sculpted environments. She explores neighborhoods, alleys, old shops, and markets, using paper art to document the connection between people and place. Her practice spans public art, lantern festival curation, brand collaborations, and she has also worked as a prison art instructor and radio host.

Representative works include “Taiwan Hundred Views – Riverside Scroll” in Taipei’s East District and “Southern Chronicles, Taipei Stories” at Treasure Hill, Zhongzheng District, Taipei, showcasing her meticulous attention to cultural memory. Recent exhibitions include a 2025 solo show in Yokohama, Japan, and she has received the Ministry of Culture Public Art Award. Through her paper-cutting, she creates not just images, but expressions of Taiwan’s tenderness and resilience.
