The work juxtaposes a blurred night view of Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor, a suspected case of collective disorder among Indonesian factory workers, and the artist’s own manic laughter as a Hong Konger. Through this collage of repression and abnormality, the work explores the complex relationship between the individual and the collective, emotion and geopolitics.
The works primarily focus on social and institutional issues, as well as the individual’s inner emotional state. Through humor and satire, they employ existing object installations, video, and performance art to respond to the mechanisms and absurdities of reality. By engaging the viewer’s senses and memories, the works aim to reveal the critique or narrative that lies beneath their surface.
