The Mongolian and Tibetan Cultural Center is the only public venue in Taiwan dedicated to professionally collecting and showcasing Mongolian and Tibetan cultural relics. Originally, it was the residence of Master Changkya, the seventh leader of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, who came to Taiwan to promote Buddhism. After his passing in 1957, the government took over the building and transformed it into a four-story structure with Tibetan-style architecture, officially opening it in 1993. The center hosts various Mongolian, Tibetan, and themed exhibitions on its 1st and 2nd floors, while the 3rd floor houses the permanent Master Changkya Memorial Hall. The hall features significant relics, including Lama Tsongkhapa’s tooth relic and Guru Chowang’s phurba. Additionally, the center holds various cultural and educational experiences, special lectures, and other activities to promote Mongolian and Tibetan culture, aligned with the themes of ongoing exhibitions.
