In 2025, Nuit Blanche Taipei celebrates its tenth anniversary — the city awakens once again in music and light. Coincidentally, this year also marks the tenth anniversary of VMTheatre Company’s musical Reed Unbroken. Two different journeys converge on the same night, echoing the dialogue between art and time: one belongs to the city — a festival that has illuminated countless sleepless nights over the past decade; the other belongs to the theatre — a story that has quietly kept its promise on stage for ten years.

We decided to bring the power of theatre directly into Nuit Blanche, presenting songs from VMTheatre Company’s classics — Reed Unbroken, Don’t Cry, Dancing Girls, and TIME TO SING A SONG. The Last Night of Beauty Karaoke. From traditional Taiwanese opera to musical theatre hits, from gentle melodies to passionate storytelling — each song carries the memory of the stage, now shared with the city once more.

Reed Unbroken is a story about promise and waiting; and for ten years, Nuit Blanche has also been waiting — for encounters with its people. As these two tenth anniversaries overlap, what we feel is more than celebration — it is a yearning “to sing once again.” This desire comes not only from the creators and performers, but also from the audience who have accompanied us along the way. It is your presence that gives these songs a reason to be heard again.

From November 22 to 30, Reed Unbroken will return to the theatre. But before that, at Nuit Blanche Taipei, we wish to celebrate with the city — to spend this special night together through music. As we sing the songs of the past decade, we also invite you to look back on your own journey over these ten years.
